Lemper is an Indonesian Chicken Sticky Rice. Yeah, it looks kind of nasty, but it's actually very delicious. It is made of sticky rice with a very fine chicken, and then wrap like an egg roll; It's usually cover with banana leaf. This food is very popular in Indonesia country. It's like hot dog in US. However, to get a fine lemper in US is very hard. It needs a perfect moist inside, with perfect stickiness (you don't want to sticky, because it will look like a glue), and a very fresh chicken inside.
You need to passionate and gently steam the rice. Also, you need to cook the chicken with delicate and special ingredients to make the unique aroma. Then you roll it in the banana leaf, to make like an egg roll. Well you know, I just know the theory, never try to make one myself. But if you have a chance to visit Indonesia someday, you have to try it.
Lemper usually eat as a snack or sometimes serve as an appetizer before you eat. Or may be it can be a late night snack at home when you hungry, when you couldn't sleep at night (hehe you know how hard to find a a great snack at night time). This one may be can make a perfect companion for your night snack.
This one is my friend made for me here in the US. But if you're really interested, I mean really interested, I probably can ask my friend to make it for you (off course you need to deal with them about the fee hehe)...Nothing free anymore in this world you know...Oh yeah, there is still one thing still free in this world...
